Co-op offers £50 shopping bonus to motorists amid cost of living crisis

Convenience retailer Co-op is giving away £50 worth of discounts to shoppers who purchase or renew vehicle insurance policies as part of a new member offer. It is is putting members in the driving seat with the bonus offered towards the cost of groceries, products and services in association with Co-op Insurance.

The insurer will also donate an additional £5 from every policy sold to help out local community food projects right across the UK on policies organised up until New Year's Eve.

Co-op Car Insurance offers comprehensive cover, including up to 30 days insurance cover in the European Union, an ‘uninsured driver promise’ meaning it will refund the cost of the excess and restore any no claims discount if an accident is the fault of an uninsured motorist, a courtesy car as standard when using an approved Co-op repairer, plus 24-hour accident recovery if a car needs to be recovered.

Non Co-op members can also benefit from the offer by joining for just £1. Paul Evans, head of motor at Co-op Insurance, said: “Life is getting more expensive for all of us and we recognise that car insurance can be seen as another additional cost, which is why we wanted to do our bit in giving members £50 back into their Co-op wallet. It’s really important that car owners are fully covered to protect not just themselves, but others on the road, and we hope that this additional money to spend on Co-op goods and services will go a little way in helping out.

“Being a member-owned organisation we are uniquely placed to help our members with offers and benefits that can be used not just in our food stores but also across our insurance, funeral and legal businesses. We believe this is one of the most generous offers in the market place today for people looking to buy or renew their car insurance.

"We hope that motorists will be able to enjoy peace of mind knowing they are insured by a company they can trust whilst also taking the opportunity to enjoy some Co-op food and groceries - on us.”
