Co-op, Amazon, Argos, eBay and Rude Health have all recalled items in recent days due to health and safety concerns. Some of the products have been recalled due to the possible presence of allergens, while others pose risk of chemical toxicity or burns.
When a product is recalled for any reason the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) and the Food Standards Agency share details on what you should do if you have bought the item as well as information on why the product is being pulled from shelves.

Various goat cheeses sold via Lactalis McLelland Ltd and Co-op
Lactalis McLelland Ltd has recalled various goat cheeses because the products might contain Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Food Standards Agency. Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems. Lactalis McLelland Ltd and Co-op have issued point-of-sale notices to their customers.
The possibly contaminated products include:
- Cricket St. Thomas Capricorn Goat Cheese 100g use by May 26 2023
- Somerset Capricorn Goat Cheese 100g use by May 26 2023
- Somerset Capricorn Goat Cheese 85g use by May 26 2023
- Co-op Goats Cheese 85g use by May 26 2023
The Food Standards Agency warned buyers to not eat them, but instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
Rude Health Organic Ultimate Muesli
Rude Health is recalling Organic Ultimate Muesli because it contains Brazil nuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Brazil nuts.

The product presents a "serious risk of electric shock" according to the CTSI. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. The authority is requiring the recall of the product from end users. The listing has been removed by online marketplace Amazon.

LOL Triple Layer Cosmetics Tin sold by Argos
The CTSI has recalled this product as Benzyl Benzoate 120-51-4 - an antimicrobial, perfuming and solvent ingredient - is not indicated on the ingredients. Some individuals can have an intolerance or allergic reaction to this ingredient. It does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

T Power Replacement Adapter sold via Amazon
The product presents a serious risk of electric shock, the CTSI stated. It also failed electrical strength tests and was missing a Class II equipment marking on the label. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. The listing has since been removed from Amazon. Owners are recommended to stop using the item immediately and contact the distributor to request redress.

Hirsrian Fluffy Slime sold via Amazon
The product presents a serious chemical risk as it was found to contain excessively high levels of boron, CTSI stated. Boron toxicity can result in headaches, hypothermia, restlessness, weariness, dermatitis, and indigestion. Small amounts of chromium were also detected, which is prohibited. The product has been recalled.

Multi-Function Jump Starter JX27 sold by eBay
According to CTSI the product presents a risk of burns due to issues with the overall construction and lack of electrical strength. When tested there were no barriers to prevent a detached wire from reducing creepage distances and clearances to levels below the minimum required by the standard, which could cause an explosion resulting in burns to the user. The plug for the product also does not meet the relevant requirements.
The import was rejected at the border. A recall notice has been sent directly to end users. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and return it for a full refund.
