Emma's experience working in the mental health and wellbeing sector has included supporting adults with wellbeing, working across various sectors and managing teams and developing services.
Having worked in the mental health sector for over two decades, the concept of Emma’s latest book, called ‘Mental Wealth’, is to maintain good mental health all the time.
The 44-year-old is already an international best selling author since the launch of her debut novel The Blue Line, a brutally honest account of the pain of trying to conceive, back in 2020.
Emma, who lives in Enniskillen, went on to co-author The Wealthy Mindset with her sister Karen, in which they shared their collective insights into some of life's hidden gems.
Emma told Belfast Live: "It has been a few years coming into fruition. This book holds some of my wisdom, knowledge and thoughts around mental wealth and well-being - how to thrive and not just survive in life and working on what it really means to be wealthy.
"This book means so much to me. It focuses on why it is so important to look after your mental health all of the time - not just as a reaction to becoming unwell.
"We all experience challenges in our lives and the mental wealth that we create, the tools that we have developed can all support us in these times to reduce the impact.
"I often liken it to a bank vault, when you are consistently working on your wellbeing you are depositing these into the vault, storing the strategies, tools and building resilience.
"Then when you need to dig deeper if life gets challenging, you withdraw from the vault and this reduces the impact and allows you to recover in a more positive way."
Emma added: "I have some fabulous co-authors in the book, who have shared their personal experience and knowledge about ways to well-being and overcoming adversity.
"We have Sinead Welsh from Informed Minds App' Sharon McNulty, founder of Joyful Spaces; Trevor Verner, author of The Shadow On My Shoulder; Geraldine McGrath, creator of I Am Unstoppable; Rosie Keaney, founder of Dream Big Events and Chet Hirani, founder of Not Your Ordinary Coach.
"It was important to share this book with others who have added chapters based on their expertise, experiences and knowledge around mental health and wellbeing and support the concept of Mental Wealth.
"The hope is that this book reaches many and can support those with achieving and maintaining optimum mental wealth and wellbeing."
Mental Wealth, published by KMD Books, will be launched this Tuesday, May 16 at 6pm in The Workhouse in Enniskillen and is available here.
