The parents of a Co Down child who was injured in a crash last year, have hailed those who came to his assistance.
Danny Byrne was cycling home from his local shop when he was involved in a serious road traffic collision on August 5, 2022. Nurses from a nearby care home were first on scene to help but due to the extent of the 12-year-old's injuries, he required the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), and so the air ambulance was dispatched.
The HEMS team responded rapidly and were able to land only meters from the injured child.
