Club chief explains why Tottenham deadline day move failed as Harry Kane sends Dele Alli message

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Wednesday, February 2.

Overmars gives Bergwijn explanation

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has suggested that a January move for Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn was not realistic.

The Dutch giants were linked with a move for the wideman throughout the window but a switch failed to come to fruition, with Overmars now giving an explanation why.

Talking to the club’s official outlet, he said: “It is no secret that we have been busy getting Bergwijn to Ajax, for now, and for the future.

“But you also have to be realistic. Every club has had two tough years. In these uncertain times, we as the board thought it was not good to deploy the entire financial package.”

Kane bids farewell to Alli

Whilst Bergwijn remained at Spurs beyond deadline day, one man who didn’t was Dele Alli as he penned a permanent deal with Premier League rivals Everton.

Harry Kane has sent a touching message to his former teammate in the aftermath of the move.

Taking to Twitter, the England captain wrote: "Good luck on your next chapter @dele_official. We've had some great memories together over the past 7 years. Thank you for everything you have given me and the club! See you soon.”

McKennie drops Juventus hint

Two new players that arrived at Spurs on deadline day were Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Their former teammate Weston McKennie has also penned a message to the pair, whilst also hinting that they could be reunited at some point in the future.

The American international wrote: "Wish you all the best bro. You [Bentancur] and kulu [Kulusevski] take care of each other!! See you soon."
