Recycling bins were torched by suspected arsonists during the early hours of this morning (October 27). The incident which took place in Bedminster has led to an investigation being launched.
Crews from Avon Fire and Rescue were called out at 3.15am to East Street after receiving reports a clothes recycling bin was alight. Using a high pressure hose reel, drag forks in use and a thermal imaging camera, crews were able to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters added it is believed the blaze was ignited "deliberately". Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the force has been called in to investigate, with officers treating it as an arson incident.

Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Bedminster were called to reports of a fire at 3.15am. On arrival, crews found a clothes recycling bin on fire.
"With a high pressure hose reel and drag forks in use, crews were able to extinguish the fire. A thermal imaging camera was also used to establish hotspots and aid firefighting efforts.
"Two further bins were also affected, and the incident was thought to have been caused by deliberate ignition."
