Ahead of his 90th birthday, Clive Davis is commandeering another superstar project.
The legendary music mogul — who helped guide the careers of Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin and Alicia Keys, just to name a few — is opening up his storied performance archive and doing a lot of talking for his upcoming Paramount+ miniseries.
Excerpted from his virtual 2021 pre-Grammy Gala events, the four-part “Clive Davis: Most Iconic Performances” featuring the Arista Records founder’s favorite archival music performances and his exclusive interviews with boldfaced names will start streaming March 23.
Sean “Diddy” Combs, Oprah Winfrey, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, H.E.R., Carole King, Rod Stewart, Barry Gibb, Alicia Keys, Joni Mitchell, Jamie Foxx, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen are interviewed by Davis. Full concert performances from the likes of Tina Turner, the Notorious B.I.G., Paul Simon, Prince, H.E.R., Rod Stewart, the Bee Gees, Jay-Z, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson and members of Queen are included in the docuseries.
“These interviews stand out among my proudest achievements,” Davis said in the announcement. “They’ve received phenomenal response, presenting these all-time artists in a light never seen before. The performances are truly iconic indeed, jaw-dropping in every way.”
The first three episodes will feature personalized introductions by the Brooklyn native to the archival performances, and segments from his chats with the artists.
The fourth episode include extended interviews.
“Clive Davis is, unequivocally, one of the greatest, most influential music executives, having discovered and launched the careers of some of the most celebrated and successful artists of our time,” Paramount+ chief content office Bruce Gillmer said in the announcement.
