A clever hack has been shared to stop bananas from turning brown before you have had chance to eat them.
Many people will buy a bunch of bananas and keep them in a fruit bowl or on the kitchen counter ready to eat. But one minute they can be green, but the next they've turned to mush in the blink of an eye.
One expert has shared a clever hack which will see your bananas last for longer, the Express reports. Experimenting with two bunches of bananas, Mike from Kitchen Tips Online wanted to see which storage hack was most effective.

Placing one on the kitchen counter, the other was placed next to the other but this time in an air tight container. Bananas are said to produce ethylene gas to help the fruit ripen which also means fruit in the same bowl will also rapidly ripen.
One way to store bananas to slow down the ripening process is by wrapping cling film around the stems to trap the ethylene gas. The most effective method is to wrap the stems of individual bananas instead of wrapping all of the stems together - this is because individually, there are few places for the gas to leak out.
You can also use ethylene absorption balls. And that is what Mike did, placing an ethylene absorption ball inside the airtight container with the second bunch of bananas.
It was nearly a week before he noticed a "significant difference" between the two bunches. By day 15, there was still "a little bit of green" on the bananas in the airtight container with the ethylene absorption balls. Despite a bit of bruising inside, the fruit was still perfectly edible.
