The Cleveland Browns are now making moves after rookie defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey was dismissed from practice for disciplinary reasons. Brad Stainbrook of The OBR has reported that the Browns are now elevating Roderick Perry from the Practice Squad for their game against the New York Jets.
Perry, a former undrafted free agent out of the Univeristy of Illinois, was with the Browns all training camp and preseason before falling victim to cutdowns as they trimmed their roster to 53. He has since been on the Practice Squad in Cleveland. Thanks to Winfrey, Perry will now get an opportunity to make a statement on Sunday as the Jets come to town.
Winfrey played just five snaps in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers, so there is a chance Perry still may not see the field. You can bet he will be ready if his number is called, however.
