Banker-turned-politician, Mark Carney is all set to become the next prime minister of Canada. He won Sunday's Liberal Party election with nearly 86% of the vote. Mark replaces longtime Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.
Ever since his victory a lot is being discussed about Mark's professional career and his switch to politics. Just like his political career, Mark has an illustrious family too. The 59 year old is married to Diana Fox Carney and is a proud dad to 4 daughters: Cleo, Sophia, Amelia, and Tess.
Cleo Carney, the eldest daughter of Mark Carney is a student at the prestigious Harvard University. "Student who is Passionate about the Climate Finance Intersection | Harvard Class of 2028," reads her bio in LinkedIn.
Cleo is currently studying social studies with a minor in energy and the environment and is talking about the need for increased investment in the strategic mining industry. "She is passionate about healthy living, reducing food waste, and reinventing classic dishes to be more nutritious and better for the environment," says Bluedot Institute, a climate-focused nonprofit, where Cleo is a board member. She also has administrative experience working on youth environmental education projects.
At Harvard, Cleo leads peer-driven sustainability initiatives to reduce waste and energy consumption.
"I want Canadians to understand what kind of a man he is"
Introducing her dad Cleo told the media, "I too am introducing my father tonight because I want Canadians to understand what kind of a man he is and who is better traveled the length of Canada to hear what Canadians want from their leaders and what they want for their future."
"He's up early to read his papers and stays up late preparing for the next day," she adds. "What I really want to share with you tonight the foundation that makes my father who he is," she says.
“The bottom line is however hard things may seem he shows up and never lets you down he has and always will show up for you for Canadians and for Canada because he cares about this great country," Cleo said.
Mark Carney is a renowned economist and central banker, best known for serving as the Governor of the Bank of England (2013–2020) and the Bank of Canada (2008–2013). Born in Canada in 1965, he has played a key role in global financial policies and climate change advocacy.
The family has lived in Canada, the UK, and various other locations due to Carney’s international roles. While Carney remains active in finance, policy, and climate change discussions, he also values privacy in his personal life, balancing professional responsibilities with family commitments.
