Clean away irritants

Cetaphil's reformulated skin cleansers and moisturisers.

Sensitive skin has been an issue for Cetaphil since 1947, when a pharmacist in Texas formulated the debut cleansing lotion.

Over the years, the product range has expanded with more formulas that gently tend to sensitive skin and improve its resilience.

Based on the science of sensitive skin, Cetaphil has reformulated its facial cleansers with vitamin B3, pro-vitamin B5 and glycerin as key ingredients that help strengthen the skin barrier, hydrate the skin and address sensitivity.

The new hydrating Gentle Skin Cleanser with a lotion texture is for all skin types while the Oily Skin Cleanser differs as a low lather gel that equally removes dirt, excess oil and make-up without leaving the skin dry or tight.

The moisturisers have also been updated with glycerin and pro-vitamin B5 along with vitamins B3 and E. The lotion for normal to dry skin is enriched with avocado oil and the cream for dry to very dry skin has sweet almond oil to help smoothen and soften the skin.

According to Cetaphil, 70% of people around the world say that they have some degree of skin sensitivity. Its partnership with dermatologists has identified five signs of sensitivity: weakened skin barrier, dryness, irritation, roughness and tightness.

A thinner or weakened skin moisture barrier allows irritants to penetrate and disturb the skin. Sensitive skin is more likely to react negatively to certain stimuli, leading to stinging, itching and other discomfort.

Cetaphil also noted that people with dry skin are three times more likely to have sensitive skin. The product development targets these five signs of sensitivity.

The four new dermatologist-tested formulas were launched along with a campaign and documentary to inspire people with sensitive skin to take charge in restoring a healthy complexion.
