The father of Claudia Lawrence created a £10,000 legacy with a charity donation after he died.
Peter Lawrence passed away in February last year aged 74, without the mystery of his daughter’s 2009 disappearance ever being solved.
Now his will reveals he left £10,000 from his £520,000 estate to the Missing People charity, for which he was an ambassador and campaigner.
After Claudia vanished aged 35 on her way to work, Peter campaigned for Claudia’s Law, which allows families of people missing for more than 90 days to deal with their affairs.
Jo Youle, chief executive of Missing People, said: “In doing this, Peter helps to ensure we can be a lifeline for people. Peter will be remembered with love and gratitude.”
Peter’s involvement in the charity included an appearance on Britain’s Got Talent with the Missing People Choir.
Speaking at the time in 2017, Peter said he had chosen to keep Claudia’s case so high-profile in a desperate hope that it will lead to new information. He added: “I have no intention of ever giving up.”
Chef Claudia was 35 when she vanished in Heworth, York, on March 18, 2009. Nine arrests have been made, but no-one has ever been charged.
Peter was made an OBE for helping to shape the 2017 Guardianship ( Missing Persons ) Act, known as Claudia’s Law.
Claudia was last seen nearing her home in the Heworth area of the city on 18 March and reported missing the following day.
Six weeks later, the investigation was reclassified to a suspected murder inquiry, although North Yorkshire Police have acknowledged they have no evidence that Claudia is dead
