
Dave Ball, the electronic musician who founded influential synth-pop duo Soft Cell and ‘90s techno group The Grid, died on October 22 at the age of 66.
Ball founded Soft Cell with vocalist Marc Almond in 1978. Although the band's original run ended with a split in 1984, the duo have reformed on numerous occasions over recent decades, and had been active in the months prior to Ball's death, including recording a soon-to-be-released album, Danceteria.
