A third arrest has been made after an Uber driver was stabbed twice in the chest and women were stalked in a series of linked crimes in Clapham, southwest London.
A man in his 30s was arrested on Monday on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm, Metropolitan Police said.
The Uber driver was injured on Nightingale Lane at just after midnight on November 23. He was treated in hospital for his wounds which were not considered life threatening.
On Friday November 17 a woman was walking on Sisters Avenue in Clapham at 4am when she noticed a man with a knife following her. She shouted and he ran away, the Met said.
Two days later, in another incident at around 1.40am on nearby Sumburgh Road, a man approached a woman and grabbed her but she managed to escape.
In a previous appeal, police detailed how officers spotted a man following women at Clapham Common near the Holy Trinity Church on November 23 as well. He was suspected of stabbing the Uber driver the same day.
Officers chased him, but he ran off in the direction of Clapham Common West Side.
The same man was recognised riding a red bicycle in the early hours of the morning. He was again chased but disappeared from sight on St John’s Road at the junction with Aliwal Road.
Metropolitan Police last week issued a CCTV image of a suspect and a man in his 20s was arrested at an address in Brixton.
He was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon and public order offences and has been bailed.
Another man was arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to a separate incident as part of the investigation. He has since been charged and bailed.
Detective Superintendent Dan O’Sullivan from the South West Command Unit said: "We recognise these incidents will have caused a lot of concern within the local community and wider and we are working around the clock to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding them.
"These are extremely serious offences that will have had a profound impact on the victims. Tackling violence against women and girls is a priority for the force and we continue to pursue a number of enquiries in order to hold those responsible to account.
