Clan welcome double signing as Malcolm Cameron bolsters forward line for new season

The Clan have bolstered their forward line with an exciting double signing ahead of the new season.

John Dunbar, 30, is a familiar face to the Braehead Arena outfit having played for EIHL rivals Guildford Flames since 2017.

And Craig Peacock is even more well-known to the Purple Army as he returns to the club after spending last season with Scottish outfit Fife Flyers.

Peacock, 33, is delighted to be back with the Clan ahead of what he predicts is an exciting campaign for Malcolm Cameron’s men.

He told Express Sport: “Glasgow’s home for me and still was last season even though I was playing for a different team, but it’s exciting to be back and be part of an exciting time moving forward.

“Malcolm got in touch with me after our season at Fife ended and it was something that appealed to me. I’d spent four years here and I jumped at the chance to come back.

“Last season was a tough one for the Flyers, but I really enjoyed it and appreciated my time there and met and worked with some great people at that club.

“I definitely won’t miss having to travel over an hour to practice when Braehead Arena was only a couple of minutes away from where I live, like I did last year and I’m delighted to be returning.”

Dunbar is no stranger to the Braehead Arena himself having visited several times as an opposition player with Guildford Flames over the last five years.

He’s looking forward to having the passionate Purple Army crowd behind him this time around when he eventually skates out for the home side.

Dunbar said: “Speaking with Malcolm, I think it’s going to be a really good fit and I like the direction the team is headed in.

“I’m excited to be part of it. It worked out for both parties in the end and the time was right to leave Guildford.

“A change of scenery was needed and a chance for me to experience something different.

“Going to Glasgow as an opposition player was never a pleasant experience and it was always one of the more dreaded games on the schedule.

“The Clan have some of the best fans in the league and the noise level was something else whenever I played there. It’s going to be great to be on the right side of that in the new season.”

Head coach Cameron believes both players will give the home Clan fans something to shout about when the new season kicks off after the summer.

Cameron added: “John is a proven commodity in our league and has been very productive for Guildford.

“He caught my eye last season and proved himself to be a good powerplay player. He was creative and patient on the puck and it won’t be a surprise to people that we wanted to add to our scoring this year.

“I’m very happy to have Craig back in the fold with the Clan.

“He’s an experienced player with a great hockey IQ.”
