While Charlie Cox is open to being involved in the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 movie, he isn't sure he'd end up playing his character Gustave.
That's because another movie star, Glen Powell, has shared his interest in the role already. Powell recently proved his video game credentials voicing Fox McCloud in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. "If there's an Expedition 33 movie, I'd be very interested," Powell previously told IGN, though he wouldn't share which character he wanted to play.
"Yeah, but I heard that Glen Powell wants it," Cox told Radio Times Gaming at the BAFTAs, when asked if he'd play Gustave in a movie. When asked who he'd prefer, Cox said: "I think the financiers might prefer Glen. So, maybe I could have a smaller role."
When asked what kind of smaller role, Cox said, "Well, what are the small roles? I don't know. I haven't finished the game yet, so I don't know. Maybe I could kind of, I don't know, be one of the townsfolks waving him goodbye as he leaves." When the interviewer joked he could be gommaged in the opening scene, Cox said, "Yeah. Maybe I get gommaged at the beginning. I'd be honored to be that."
Cox then went on to say Gustave should be played by Robert Pattinson thanks to their physical resemblance, but voiced by Cox. That's also something he told us at the same event. "My involvement with this, as minuscule as it was originally and how it's now expanded so much, has been nothing but an incredibly humbling and enjoyable experience," he shared. "So, yeah, absolutely, yeah. I was thinking that they should probably – if they make the movie – they should get Robert Pattinson to play the part, and I should do the voice. Because then they would have pretty much the exact Gustave from the game."
The film adaptation was announced before the game even released, but it seems we'll have to wait a bit longer for more updates.
