CJ Egan-Riley says Manchester City will always hold a special place in his heart after exiting the club for Burnley on a permanent transfer.
U23 captain Egan-Riley, who made three senior appearances for City and played a pivotal role in the academy's recent successes, has traded the Etihad for Turf Moor, where he has signed a four-year contract for Vincent Kompany's side.
Egan-Riley leaves for a nominal fee, while City have a 30 per cent sell-on clause, and Blues centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis is expected to follow him to Burnley on a year-long loan deal to reunite with Kompany.

A popular member of the academy squad and a regular face in senior training, Egan-Riley took to Instagram after his City exit was confirmed to thank the important figures in his career - including Pep Guardiola.
He wrote: "Man City has been part of my life for 14 years and I will always be grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had in my time at the club.
"I have been fortunate to work with brilliant coaches and staff, all of whom have played a part in helping me achieve the things I have. Thank you to all of you for your belief in me and helping me develop both on and off the pitch.
"I would also like to thank my teammates. It has been an honour going into battle with you. I have some brilliant memories and wish you all success for the future.
"Thank you to Pep Guardiola and his team for giving me the opportunity to make my Premier League and Champions League debuts. Best wishes to the fans as well. This club will always have a special place in my heart.
"As I move onto the next part of my footballing journey I have to thank my family for their continued encouragement and support."
Upon signing for Burnley, Egan-Riley said: “I’m buzzing to be here; happy the deal is over the line and I’m a Burnley player. I just can’t wait to get pre-season started and get the season underway.”
New Burnley boss Kompany added: “CJ is a player we have been watching closely for a long time. He is a promising and talented footballer with an excellent mindset and attitude.
“We are delighted he has agreed to join. CJ has shown a real hunger and he wants to learn and succeed at Burnley. He fits perfectly into our culture and he is a fantastic addition to our squad.”
Among the comments under Egan-Riley's Instagram post were former teammates Tommy Doyle, Morgan Rogers, plus former England youth teammates Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala.
