City, FOP back to bargaining table to nail down rest of police contract, union president says

After a pair of defeats at the bargaining table, Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration is trying to settle unresolved portions of the police contract at the bargaining table.

And in a surprise twist, the city’s lead negotiator is Jim Franczek, fired by then-Mayor Lori Lightfoot in March for doing a lengthy interview on a Chicago Sun-Times podcast where he essentially endorsed Paul Vallas over Brandon Johnson in the April 4 mayoral runoff.
