A popular city centre bar is to host a series of gaming tournaments complete with free drinks and pizza.
NQ64, which took over the former Aloha site on Colquitt Street, has quickly established itself among Liverpool's thriving bar and club scene, with classic arcade games offering patrons something a little different.
The underground spot is kitted out with wall to wall retro consoles and machines, with dark, atmospheric décor accentuated by pops of neon colour and vibrant graffiti art. A haven for gamers and those craving a night out with a twist, there's iconic games like Donkey Kong, Guitar Hero, Golden Axe, Mario Kart, Nintendo 64, and much more.

Now, the venue is set to host a string of gaming tournaments, in partnership with Hartwall Original Long Drink. Kicking off on January 25, the event will be the first in a series of monthly competitions, with beloved game Mario Kart starting proceedings.
Entry to the competition is free and includes a Hartwall Original Long Drink, pizza per person, and the chance to be crowned the winner of Mario Kart. Competitors who wish to attend with a fellow player or two will be able to take advantage of multibuy offers, which will be available on Original Long Drink throughout the night.
Players will be competing for medal positions, with first place prizes including tokens to use at NQ64 Manchester, a bucket of Original Long Drink, and a mystery goody bag. In keeping with the retro theme of the venue, partner Original Long Drink - or "gin in a tin" as it's more commonly known - is instantly recognisable by its famous stripy cans, and the packaging design hasn't changed since 1952.
If you wish to take part in the gaming tournament, simply send a direct message to the NQ64 Instagram page. The event is operating on a first come, first served basis. The first competition night will be held on January 25 at 6pm, and will run monthly until March. NQ64 Liverpool is based at 22 Colquitt Street, Liverpool, L1 4DE.
