Cillian Murphy lands his first major BAFTA nomination in 16 years

Actor Cillian Murphy has landed his first TV BAFTA nomination for his role in Peaky Blinders - as he joins a host of Irish stars on the shortlist.

The Cork star has been nominated for leading actor for playing the character Tommy Shelby in the hit BBC show - his first BAFTA nod since 2007.

His only previous nomination from BAFTA was for the Rising Star prize at the 2007 Film Awards.
