RAIPUR: Amidst ongoing anti-Christian violence, a superintendent of police sustained head injuries and other security personnel were injured on Monday while they were trying to quell a violent mob which vandalised a Church in Narayanpur district in the tribal Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.
As Narayanpur district has been witnessing conflict between tribals and Christian tribals since mid-December, a section of people had called for a bandh and had staged a demonstration after a clash with the Christian community on Sunday, when about eight persons were injured. The incident took place in Gorra village of Narayanpur, when the two groups had a face-off leading to a clash. According to information, the Christians were accused of following a "foreign religion" and asked to live in the forests and leave the villages.
