A popular Belfast city centre restaurant is preparing to open a new sit-in location in the south of the city.
The Chubby Cherub has been granted permission to transform the former Evangelical Presbyterian Church on the Lisburn Road into a new restaurant.
Work is already well underway at the new location which is located opposite the police station on the busy Belfast road.

The Chubby Cherub is an Italian restaurant located on Chichester Street alongside Belfast City Hall - owned by Eamon McCusker, it operates alongside sister locations AP:PM, Cabaret Supper Club and The Tree House.
An application to transform the vacant church building was submitted to Belfast City Council by Chubby Cherub Lisburn Road Ltd in January 2021, with permission being granted in September last year.
The application description reads: "Change of use from Church to restaurant, works to include new shopfront and external seating area".
The Chubby Cherub is currently advertising roles for front of house and kitchen staff for their new location on their website but there are no further details of when the public can expect to dine in the new spot.
Newtownabbey-based company JWA Architectural Design has been tasked with the project which is located at 491-495 Lisburn Road.
