Chuba Hubbard Signs Contract Extension

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hubbard is signing a four-year, $33.2 million contract to remain with the Panthers. The deal has a maximum value of $37.2 million and includes $15 million in fully guaranteed money.

Hubbard was set to be a free agent at the end of this season. Now, the extension keeps Hubbard in Carolina through 2028.

Hubbard has been one of the lone bright spots for the Panthers (2-7). Hubbard is fifth in the NFL in rushing yards with 665. Hubbard also has a career-high six touchdowns.

“We are excited to sign Chuba to an extension and keep him in Carolina,” said Panthers GM Dan Morgan. “He exemplifies everything we want on and off the field. Chuba is passionate about football, is productive, and is committed to his teammates and winning.”

The Panthers also have running back Miles Sanders in the second year of his four-year, $25.4 million deal.

Carolina faces the New York Giants (2-7) in Germany in Week 10.

San Francisco’s Christian McCaffrey remains the highest-paid running back in the NFL, with an average per year (APY) of $19 million.

McCaffrey is followed by Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor ($14 million), Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley ($12.583 million), and New Orleans’ Alvin Kamara ($12.25 million).

Hubbard’s new deal places him at No. 9 on the list.
