Christopher Vivell is set to become the new technical director at Chelsea, ending Todd Boehly's search after leaving RB Leipzig, football.london understands.
The 35-year-old's appointment is expected to be the final one following the American's £4 billion takeover at Stamford Bridge and sees him come in as a replacement for the role which was vacated by exits of Marino Granovskaia and Petr Cech. Vivell left Leipzig on Friday which means that a move to West London appears imminent.
It ends the long search for a new sporting director, with the role having been undertaken by Boehly himself during the summer transfer market. The American had made pursuits for former Liverpool director Michael Edwards and Red Bull Salzburg chief Christoph Freund but now appears to have settled on the German.

Boehly made the decision to sack Thomas Tuchel last month, replacing him with Graham Potter, following a defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League, and based off of previous interviews, this is not a move which Vivell would have taken lightly. Speaking in the German language 'Kicker meets DAZN' podcast, he outlined the need for the decision to change managers not to be taken lightly.
He explained: "The best thing is always when a club works with a coach for a long time." He added. "You can see that in teams that are at the top of the Bundesliga like Union Berlin.
"That's what we want again." He explained this in the context of former Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose having taken over at Leipzig this season, this was before leaving the role himself, but sends a clear message to Boehly and other decision-makers at Chelsea where he believes long-term success at Chelsea can be obtained.
