Bayern Munich have decided to tie Christopher Scott down for another year according to a report.
It comes as a major blow to Celtic 's hopes of landing the midfielder on a free.
The American has been on Celtic's radar since earlier this year when Record Sport revealed he would be available for a compensation fee of around £250,000.
We also noted at the time that Bayern had the option to trigger a one-year extension and WOULD use it to avoid losing him for next to nothing.
Now Sky Sports in Germany say they have taken up that option and he is set to remain a Bayern player for at least 2022/23.
And it's claimed Fortuna Dusseldorf have already opened talks to take him on loan.
Celtic are on the lookout for a replacement for Tom Rogic and Scott would have fit that bill.
But they may have to look elsewhere with Bayern not letting him go just yet.
Meanwhile the club are in talks with Jota after agreeing a deal with Benfica to bring him back to Parkhead.
Record Sport revealed over the weekend that Jota is yet to agree on personal terms but Ange Postecoglou fully expects him to sign.
