RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku has suffered a major injury setback after picking up a thigh strain in the 2-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Friday night. Nkunku made his first start in the Bundesliga since November after spraining his knee during France training just days before the World Cup started in Qatar.
The 25-year-old remains the joint-second top goal scorer in the German top-flight despite only having played 18 times for Leipzig this season. Nkunku has now suffered a setback following his knee injury after sustaining a minor thigh strain in the defeat against Dortmund.
football.london understands Chelsea are expected to sign the France international this summer after a pre-contract was agreed with the player. Nkunku has already completed the necessary medical tests ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge with Todd Boehly prepared to activate his £52million release clause ahead of next season.

RB Leipzig revealed the extent of Nkunku's latest injury concern on social media with a post that read: "@c_nk97 [Nkunku] picked up a minor thigh strain in Dortmund and will be sidelined for the time being." It is not yet known how long he will be out for, but a muscle injury could see him absent up until the international break later this month.
The Blues have struggled in attack this season despite reinforcements coming in the January transfer window, with Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix all joining Graham Potter's squad. Kai Havertz struggled once again in the win against Leeds at Stamford Bridge, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was an unused substitute with his future looking set to be away from west London come the summer.
