Christopher Nkunku helps Chelsea drop sneaky Kylian Mbappe transfer hint as funny theory emerges

Numerous supporters have theorised that Chelsea will sign Kylian Mbappe after the 24-year-old was spotted in a video unveiling Christopher Nkunku. The Paris Saint-Germain star has been heavily linked with an exit from the French capital lately after publicly confirming his decision to leave once his contract expires next year.

While Mbappe has previously suggested that it's his dream to play for Real Madrid, Stamford Bridge has been mooted as a potential destination this summer after fans spotted something in Nkunku's official announcement. To confirm the forward's move from RB Leipzig, the west London club posted a video compiling key moments in his career.

It begins by showing a picture of Nkunku as a child and his birthplace before transitioning into time at PSG. Then, a couple of images the Frenchman flash up alongside the Eiffel Tower and Les Parc des Princes.

One of which was a picture of Nkunku sharing a joke with Mbappe, which sent the Chelsea fanbase into a frenzy on social media. In jest, a few Blues fans screen-shotted the freeze-frame and shared it on Twitter, saying 'read between the lines'.

With that being said, football.london has taken a look at some of the reaction to the theories that Chelsea could sign Mbappe...

@CFC_Janty tweeted: "Read between the lines we are signing Mbappe next."

@CFCDubois tweeted: "Mbappe spotted twice in the Nkunku announcement? Don’t want to reach but it’s now quite clear he’ll be a Chelsea player."

@rxi_cfc tweeted: "He'll be joining us after next season when we win the league. Go back to this tweet in a year."

@ChelseaBase__ tweeted: "I’m praying it will happen."

However, not everybody was buying into the speculation. @losblancoszone replied: "Let it go bro he only wants Real Madrid, there's a higher chance of him rejecting Chelsea at this point."

@rodn3yb tweeted: "Mbappé wouldn’t go to a club that just finished 12th. Real Madrid is his next destination."

@AP_CFC21 tweeted: "Why do we need Mbappe. Lukaku and nkaku double pivot number 9s next season."

Nevertheless, upon the announcement of Nkunku's move, there was no mention of Mbappe – unsurprisingly. The Chelsea ace told the official club website: "I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.

"Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt."
