Christopher Dean has given an update on his health after he was rushed to hospital with a nasty injury, just days before the return of the new season of Dancing on Ice.
The former Olympic champion and judge left fans concerned after he appeared at the photocall for the show yesterday with a bandage wrapped around his finger, as they wondered if he would appear in the live show.
Chris, 64, also took to social media to showcase his broken finger that happened earlier in the week, ahead of Sunday’s (15 January) launch show.
Despite, the dangerous nature of the show with several celebrities and professionals being injured in the past, Chris actually injured himself off the ice, when he tripped over his suitcase.
Chris took to his joint Twitter account with his professional partner Jayne Torvill and posted a picture of his broken pinky. He captioned it: "Yes broken [grimacing face]."
He joked that he actually sustained the injury in a more ambitious skating feat known as the Iron Lotus. Chris added: "We were trying the Iron Lotus, but ended up doing a Half Nelson... or did I just fall over a suitcase in the middle of the night [laughing emoji]."
Fans flooded the comments with messages of support and well wishes, as they asked whether he would still be well enough for the upcoming live show.
“I hope you’re on the mend!” one wrote, as another tweeted: “Quick speedy recovery, I hope it doesn’t stop you and Jayne on Dancing on Ice. Cannot wait to see you back on Sunday with Phil and Holly.”
A third added: “Oh dear, what are you like! What happened? And just before the lives on Sunday.”
As a fourth joked with laughing emojis: “No! Should get some ice on that! Sorry… Speedy recovery!”
Luckily, Chris will be attending Sunday night’s show, alongside Jayne as a judge on the panel with Diversity’s Ashley Banjo and Strictly Come Dancing ’s Oti Mabuse.
While Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield will return as hosts of the ITV dancing competition and welcome a new host of contestants including Patsy Palmer, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu, The Vivienne, Joey Essex and Michelle Heaton.
The show will continue to be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
