It's officially Christmas week and families around the country are getting ready for the big day.
Supermarkets around Ireland will be very busy this week with customers stocking up on groceries and presents. Christmas Eve is always a hectic day for shops as the last minute shoppers rush to pick up any items they had forgotten.
Irish stores tend to close early on Christmas Eve so staff can head home to enjoy the festivities. If you're planning on doing some eleventh hour shopping, here are the opening times you need to know:

Aldi
Aldi stores nationwide are operating extended opening hours of 8am until 11pm this week but they will be open from 8am until 7pm on Christmas Eve. Their stores will shut both on Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day.
Lidl
This week, Lidl stores across the country will be open for business from 8am until 10pm. However, on Christmas Eve they will operate reduced hours of 8am until 6pm.
Similar to Aldi, all Irish Lidl stores will be closed on Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day.
Dunnes Stores
Dunnes Stores are open for extended hours this week but the exact times differ from branch to branch. Most of their outlets will be closing at 6pm on Christmas Eve.

Similar to Dunnes Stores, Tesco's opening hours this week vary depending on your local store. However, most of their branches will be open from 7am until 7pm on Christmas Eve.
