Bank holiday at Christmas moved from December 25 this year

The bank holiday for Christmas Day doesn't fall on December 25.

Christmas Day 2022 takes place on a Sunday, meaning a 'substitute' weekday becomes a bank holiday instead. If the usual bank holiday falls on a weekend, normally the following Monday serves as a public holiday.

Your employer doesn’t have to give you paid leave on bank or public holiday and it might affect how and when your benefits are paid, reports the ECHO. This year, the Christmas Day bank holiday will be observed on Tuesday December 27.
