Christine McGuinness offers update on Paddy marraige on ITV's Lorraine as he gets back into home life

Christine McGuinness appeared on TV for the first time since admitting she and her husband Paddy McGuinness were having a 'very difficult' time. The couple's marriage of 11 years hit the headlines as the former model spoke to the press after rumours she and Paddy had split.

There was speculation the couple had separated when Paddy, 48, wasn't seen publicly supporting his wife during her stint on ITV’s The Games before the pair went on separate holidays last month. Christine headed off on her first girls holiday with Chelcee Grimes after the pair bonded during their appearance on the sporting competition show.

Mum-of-three Christine told The Sun in an interview with Fabulous set to be published this weekend: "What I might have put up with in the past, I probably wouldn’t put up with now, and the same for him."

She then said: "I can’t deny we are having a very, very difficult time." She added: "It’s just — we’ve been together 15 years, 11 years married: we are gonna have ups and downs — but this situation at the minute — I don’t want to go into it too much but I will just say that I didn’t cause this situation."

Bolton-born Paddy has since returned home to the UK after being away filming in Thailand for Top Gear, which he co-hosts alongside Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff. He took to Instagram to share clips from his flight as he looked forward to heading back for a "cup of tea" and "clean bedding".

He also shared that his three children - twins Penelope and Leo, nine, and Felicity, six - were off school and commented on a picture Christine shared of the kids enjoying the hot weather by cooling down in a swimming pool in the garden of their Cheshire home saying he was on his way back for "cuddles".

Speaking about her relationship on ITV's Lorraine on Tuesday (July 12), Christine told stand-in host Carol Vorderman: 'I think marriages just go through ups and downs anyway. I think all marriages - especially long ones like ours - it's not always going to be plain sailing but we're trying to deal with things as privately as possible."

She also revealed the family of five will be heading off on holiday next week to spend quality time together. The 34-year-old said: "We just want to be there to support the children and have an amazing summer.' We're going away on a family holiday next week and we're really excited. They're always going to be our focus."

She also gushed about her holiday with Chelcee, telling Carol: 'I've never been on a girls' holiday before. I knew that I was going to feel anxious before I left. I had the best time, I saw a waterfall, I've never seen a waterfall ever in my life - it was beautiful."

Christine was on the show to discuss the release of her book, A Beautiful Nightmare, in paperback. She said she wanted to update the autobiography before its re-release as she received her Autism diagnosis - and later ADHD - once it had been finished. But with so much having gone on in the last year, she is set to pen another.

On Monday, after arriving back in the country, Paddy took to Instagram to share a snap of his children as they went out on a walk in the sunshine. "I remember when I used to take the kids for a walk, now they’re taking me! Love it." And he's obviously getting stuck into home life as he latest update showed his garden full of stacks of compost. " One for my green fingered friends. Spot of planting today," he penned.
