Christine McGuinness looks sombre as she's seen for the first time since split from Paddy

Christine McGuinness cut a sombre figure over the weekend as she was pictured for the first time since announcing her split from husband Paddy McGuinness.

The mum-of-three, 34, was spotted out and about near her Cheshire home on Sunday, as the showbiz world reacted the news she and Top Gear presenter Paddy had called time on their 11-year marriage.

Christine and the comedian, 48, issued a joint statement via their respective Instagram accounts on Friday, addressing the recent rumours and speculation surrounding their relationship.

The former couple explained how the decision to split had been made "a while ago" but they would continue to live together in their family home for the sake of their three young children.

In the wake of their separation becoming public news, it's been reported that Instagram messages between Paddy and another TV star were "one of the driving forces" for the couple deciding to go their separate ways earlier this year.

According to a source speaking to the MailOnline, there was nothing to suggest the messages exchanged between Paddy and the unnamed star went beyond friendship, but Christine was 'upset' upon discovering them.

"It’s unclear how they met but they followed one another for a while," the insider claimed when discussing the messages with the publication.

"There have been various issues between him and Christine, but this was definitely one of the driving forces that began to make them assess their future as a married couple."

The Mirror previously approached representatives for Christine and Paddy for comment regarding the source quotes. A representative for Christine confirmed they had "no further comment to make".

Stepping out for a solo outing on Sunday, Christine looked cut a casual yet glamorous figure in denim shorts, Nike trainers and a white top.

The former Real Housewives of Cheshire star completed her outfit with a striped shirt tied at the waist and a handbag.

Rumours surrounding the state of the former couple's relationship had been prominent over recent weeks, with Christine even saying she "didn’t cause this situation" when discussing their marriage troubles in an interview earlier this month.

The pair married in June 2011 following a four-year courtship, with Paddy's comedian pal Peter Kay acting as the best man on their during special day.

The two stars are parents to three children together - twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and daughter Felicity, five - all of whom have been diagnosed with autism.

Christine - who received an autism diagnosis as an adult - and Paddy met other parents, experts and people on the autism spectrum for a BBC documentary last year.

The former couple won praise for their moving and informative TV programme, and it's since been confirmed Christine will star in a follow-up documentary exploring the untold story of how autism in women and girls has been ignored and misunderstood.

The joint statement shared by both stars reads in full: "We hadn't planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.

"A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus was as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.
