Christine McGuinness enjoys wild NTA afterparty after avoiding meet-up with ex Paddy

TV star  Christine McGuinness was pictured letting loose at the National Television Awards after party after avoiding a meet up with estranged husband Paddy McGuinness.

The 34-year-old had previously revealed how "anxious" she was to attend the event, especially as she was nominated alongside Paddy for their BBC documentary 'Our Family and Autism'.

She previously admitted on her Instagram : "I'm really anxious. I'm quite nervous just because of everything - obviously it's not the best situation, but I haven't done anything wrong.

"I know what a big difference the documentary has made and I know how hard the whole team worked on it so I'm going to go and try and hold my head up high and just enjoy the night."

During the award ceremony, Christine was pictured getting teary as the showreel for her family documentary flashed up on the big screen. Filmed with husband Paddy, the BBC documentary focused on the couple's three children and their journey through and after their diagnosis.

Paddy and Christine faced stiff competition in the authored documentary category.

Their documentary went up against Julia Brady: Breast Cancer and Me, Kate Garraway: Caring for Derek, Katie Price : What Harvey Did Next and Inside My Head, from the late The Wanted singer Tom Parker.

Whilst Christine didn't win, she was a gracious loser as Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway won for her documentary focusing on her husband Derek's struggles with Covid-19.

Once the award ceremony had concluded, Christine was able to let her hair down and relax. The star looked stunning in a figure hugging black gown, with her long blonde hair styled in golden waves as she was pictured enjoying the NTA afterparty.

Estranged husband Paddy chose not to attend the glittering awards, but stayed home with a takeaway instead.

A TV source told the Sun : "Paddy is staying away and focusing on work, letting Christine bask in the glory of being nominated for the doc, which meant so much to her.

"If they both showed up there would be too much focus on their relationship and they want to be respectful."

The pair announced their split in July, after 11 years of marriage. On a joint statement, which they both shared on their social media, they wrote: "We hadn't planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but after the lack of privacy surrounding our life personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.

"A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.

"This was not an easy decision to make but we are moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children.

"We'll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together."
