Christine McGuinness 'can't stop smiling' ahead of single girls trip after Paddy split

Christine McGuinness 'can't stop smiling' since she announced her shock split from husband Paddy.

The mum-of-three, 34, is 'on top of the world' after parting ways with the Top Gear presenter, 48, a number of weeks ago.

The former couple released a joint statement to announce their split after months of speculation last month.

Taking to Instagram to confirm the news, they said: "We hadn't planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.

"A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus was as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.

"This was not an easy decision to make but we're moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children.

"We'll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together."

Since then, blonde bombshell Christine has been pictured a handful of times looking happier than ever as she beamed following her marriage breakdown.

Now close friends claim that the author and TV star 'can't stop smiling' after finding her spark again following a tough couple of months.

"Christine feels like she has shed so many of her insecurities and is growing in confidence every day. Her kids will always come first, but she had found time for herself again, and that self-love is the secret behind her smile," a source told Closer.

"She can't stop smiling thinking about the future and every that is ahead of her.

"Christine is really enjoying a new circle of friends. She made some good friends on The Games. She's planning more girlie trips away and says her new friends have been like a breath of fresh air as it feels good to be socialising again and feeling like she can have fun."

In the wake of Christine and Paddy's separation becoming public news, it has been reported that Instagram messages between Paddy and another TV star were 'one of the driving forces' for the couple deciding to go their separate ways earlier this year.

According to a source who spoke to MailOnline, there was nothing to suggest the messages exchanged between Paddy and the unnamed star went beyond friendship, but Christine was 'upset' upon discovering them.

"It’s unclear how they met but they followed one another for a while," the insider claimed when discussing the messages with the publication.

"There have been various issues between him and Christine, but this was definitely one of the driving forces that began to make them assess their future as a married couple."

Paddy and Christine married in June 2011 following a four-year courtship, with Paddy's pal Peter Kay taking on best man duties.

The pair are parents to three children together - twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and daughter Felicity, five - all of whom have been diagnosed with autism.
