Christian Ramirez 'set' for Aberdeen transfer exit as two MLS options emerge for out of favour striker

Christian Ramirez is set to return to the MLS after finding himself out of favour under Jim Goodwin at Aberdeen, according to reports in America.

Former Dons boss Stephen Glass brought the twice-capped American striker to Pittodrie in the summer of 2021 and he netted 15 times in his debut season. But since Goodwin's arrival in February last year, he hasn't netted a Premiership goal and was stripped of the number nine jersey in the summer as the new gaffer brought in Bojan Miovski.

He netted three times in the Viaplay Cup during the summer but has featured just nine times in the league since, with his only start coming earlier this month against Ross County. It's claimed by Pro Soccer Wire that a return to the MLS looks likely for Ramirez and two clubs are in the mix for his signature, with Columbus Crew 'the likely landing spot' for the 31-year-old.

San Jose Earthquakes are also in the running for a man who's turned out for LAFC, Minnesota United and Houston Dynamo. He's played over 100 times in America's top league. Goodwin is preparing his Aberdeen side for their Viaplay cup semi-final at Hampden this weekend when they take on Rangers. Jim Goodwin's side entered the competition at the group stage for the first time this season.
