The Librarians: The Next Chapter is set to bring back an original cast member, Christian Kane, reprising his role as Jacob Stone in the upcoming fantasy adventure show. The original Librarians series, which aired from 2014 to 2018 on TNT, was based on the novels by David Titcher and developed for TV by John Rogers. The story revolved around an ancient organization known as the Librarians, dedicated to safeguarding the world from a hidden reality.
In May 2023, The CW announced the development of a spinoff based on The Librarians, with Dean Devlin, an executive producer of the original series, serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the new show. Noah Wyle, who had a recurring role in the original series, also joins as an executive producer.
