A Christian group in Nottingham is expected to be granted £45,000 by the city council as it becomes "imperative" more foster carers are employed to help an ever-increasing number of children coming into care. The group will help the council in its recruitment drive.
As of September last year 699 children, described as "the most vulnerable in the city" by Nottingham City Council, were in the care of the Labour-run authority. Just under 500 children are being looked after by foster carers, however due to the ever-increasing number of children entering care the council says it needs as many in-house foster carers "as possible".
The group, Nottingham City Prayer, was established in 2015 and today leads worship events and supports a number of initiatives. In 2018 Nottingham City Fostering was approached by Nottingham City Prayer to look at what they could offer as an organisation in helping looked-after children.
