Christian Doidge discusses Hibs exit transfer talk as he declares 'love' for Easter Road side

Christian Doidge insists he is really happy at Hibs and he is not going anywhere.

The Hibs striker has been linked with a reunion with his former boss Jack Ross at Dundee United this summer, but he insists he is not interested in leaving the capital and that he 'loves' playing for the club and has 'something to show and prove'.

The hitman has two years to run on his current deal at Easter Road and he let Lee Johnson exactly what he can do with a hat-trick in the Premier Sports Cup opener against Clyde on Saturday. The Hibees ran out 5-0 winners in their first competitive game of the new campaign and the Welshman was instrumental in that result. He struggled last season with injuries and netted just twice on his 25 appearances in all competitions. His treble at the weekend means he has already TOPPED his total for the whole of the last campaign as he looks to keep his place in the starting side.

He said: "I'm really happy here. I love playing for this football club. I’m not aware of any speculation or anything. I keep myself to myself and concentrate on my job for Hibs.

"I’ve got two years left on my contract, so I’m not going to go anywhere unless I really want to go there.

"I love playing for this club and I feel I’ve got something to show and prove, and I am going to continue to do that until someone tells me anything different.

“We had a conversation at the start of pre season. [The manager] told me where he saw my role. We had a really good honest conversation and it was nice to get some clarity.

“Now I’ve played the first game of the season and hopefully that tells me I will be playing in the first league game of the season. But I have to keep working hard and see what happens.

“I haven’t spoken to him any further. I’m just concentrating on myself and getting fit and being in the best possible condition for this football club.

"I’ve started a game of football for the first time in a long time and I’ve scored a hat-trick so I’m delighted."
