Chris Wood set to miss the remainder of the season with Nottingham Forest

Chris Wood has been ruled out for the rest of the season with Nottingham Forest.

The striker is technically still on loan from Newcastle United - hence why he did not appear against the Magpies this month - but his permanent transfer to Forest has already gone through. United fans sympathised with Wood as the news broke today given he played a big part in phase one of the club's takeover adventure last year.

Wood will now get his head down and try to be back for pre-season. His manager Steve Cooper said today: "Chris Wood is out for the season.

"It’s just something we have to deal with, we’ll put our focus into the players who are available and who are training ready to play the next game and commit to them guys."

Wood returned from international duty with New Zealand with the injury and Forest said: "The New Zealander went away for international duty with his country during the break and participated in some training sessions, but was unable to feature in their two friendlies against China."
