Chris Sutton wonders if Rangers want a medal for progression after they failed to beat their rivals Celtic again.
Jota's header was all that was needed to win the Scottish Cup semi-final 1-0 at Hampden. The Light Blues had chances to score in the pressure cooker clash and Fashion Sakala missed a huge opportunity with the goal gaping, but eventually it wasn't to be and it means boss Michael Beale has lost three of his four derbies this term.
Sutton has not been a fan of some comments from the Rangers camp on the gap between the clubs, and the Celtic hero put that in his sights alongside a scathing view on the forward line at Ibrox. The Record Sport columnist told Viaplay: "We'll probably hear the Rangers players come out tomorrow and say that we will see the real Rangers in the final (derby) game of the season which essentially doesn't matter.
"All this closing the gap stuff, there's no closing the gap cup, it's a huge, huge summer for Rangers. There were passengers today, Michael Beale has hung his hat on Alfredo Morelos and over the years has been a good Rangers player, but he's been an absolute disgrace.
"He looks overweight and when you are carrying someone like that and Michael Beale should have hooked him earlier. It's a massive problem, then you have Sakala and Matondo who you don't know what you will get from them."
