Chris Sutton in Rangers 'losing Michael Beale league' jibe and 'under major pressure' to beat Celtic

Celtic hero Chris Sutton has torn into Rangers and their manager for "losing in the Michael Beale league" as well as the Premiership title race this season.

The duo have endured feuds aplenty this season, and Hoops legend and pundit Sutton looks more than willing to reignite the war of words with his recent claim that Rangers have NO chance of catching the Hoops in the title race. The champions are 13 points clear at the league summit with just 15 points left on offer this season. It means Celtic and Ange Postecoglou could potentially have a title party at Tynecastle next time out when they face Hearts in the first league split fixture.

But before that situation, all focus is on this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final showdown, and Sutton has taken aim at the Light Blues boss for having too much to say about Postecoglou, as he insisted on the Daily Record's podcast that all pressure is on Rangers as he labelled the fixture a MUST win.

“Do I think the Aberdeen result will have a bearing on the semi-final? Absolutely not," Sutton said.

“There was only the tiniest chance of Rangers winning the league after Celtic’s slip up, but it was an opportunity gone. They will have wanted to go into the game with real momentum.

“I still think they have issues, especially if [Connor] Goldson and [Ryan] Kent aren’t fit. It’s enormous for Rangers. They are the team under major pressure in this game.

“It’s a must win for Beale. If they don’t there will inevitably be pressure on the start of next season. This year, you’d had the Scottish league and you’ve had the Michael Beale league. He’s losing in both and now he has this enormous game on Sunday.

"Beale has had a lot to say about Ange Postecoglou, he’s had a lot to say about a lot of things, and that’s okay. But the important thing is backing it up on the pitch.

“Domestically they have improved and made Aberdeen will give them a kick up the backside. I’d make Celtic slight favourites but the pressure is all on Rangers."
