Chris Sutton in fresh Rangers swipe as Celtic hero insists Michael Beale would 'eat himself really'

Rangers manager Michael Beale talks a good game but would "eat himself". That's the view of Chris Sutton who has reminded the Ibrox side that Celtic are the biggest club in Scotland and that the Londoner needs to start backing up his words rather than finding a way to diminish Ange Postecoglou's achievements.

The backlash comes amid recent comments from Beale around the finances the Light Blues and their Glasgow rivals have at their disposal, with Celtic spending significantly more during Postecoglou's tenure. He claimed that Postecoglou was a "lucky man" due to the budget afforded to him. The Parkhead giants lead the Premiership title race by six points, with a game in hand over Rangers.

And speaking on the BT Sport Score on Saturday afternoon, Sutton reiterated his viewpoint that Beale should stop having a pop at Postecoglou. He said: “They’re trying to have a pop at Celtic because they have the biggest budget, but Celtic are the biggest club in Scotland with the biggest fan base. I just think with Michael Beale, he’ll eat himself really. He talks a hell of a game.

“Ange Postecoglou has had a brilliant coaching career. I don’t really understand. I think it will be frowned upon within the game when he’s having a pop at a guy who has been a great builder of clubs.

“He should keep his head down as Martin O’Neill did when he first went north of the border. First season, always Rangers were the benchmark. Michael Beale has to back it up. I was surprised at his comments, especially after the way he left QPR under a huge cloud.”
