Comedian and actor Chris Rock is set to make history, by becoming the first artist to perform live on Netflix - with the global giant trying their hand at new technology early next year.
The stand-up special will allow subscribers of the hit streaming platform to view along live as and when the event itself takes place in early 2023.
And if successful, it could pave the way for future live content such as reality TV and major sporting events.

Speaking about an exciting future for the platform, Vice President of Stand-up and Comedy Formats for Netflix, Robbie Praw, said: “Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation. We're thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history.
"This will be an unforgettable moment and we're so honoured that Chris is carrying this torch.”
In a Tweet, the streaming service also announced: "Chris Rock is about to make history as the first artist to perform LIVE on Netflix! The legendary comedian, writer, director, and actor’s newest comedy special will premiere live — globally — in early 2023 on Netflix!"
Additional details for the event itself will be announced by Netflix at a later date.
The announcement follows on from one of live TV's most controversial moments earlier this year, which also features Rock himself. At the official Oscars ceremony, the funny man was slapped on stage by a furious Will Smith, after making a thought to be light-hearted dig at Jada Pinkett-Smith.
The comment which appeared to trigger Will’s Oscars stage invasion was when Chris, who was there to present the award for documentary feature, remarked his wife Jada, who was sitting next to him, “couldn’t wait for GI Jane 2.”
He was referencing the 90s film that Demi Moore famously shaved her head to play the lead in. Moments later, Will got out of his seat, just metres from where Chris was standing on the podium and slapped him before going back to his seat and telling him to keep his wife's name out of his mouth.
