Chris Rigg denied 'incredible' Fulham moment as Sunderland earn FA Cup replay

Dion Dublin says he was left upset that Chris Rigg wasn't able to celebrate a dream winner for Sunderland in their FA Cup clash with Premier League side Fulham. The 15-year-old, who became the club's youngest outfield player in history in the last round at Shrewsbury Town, came off the bench again in the Fourth Round of the competition.

Rigg replaced Patrick Roberts for the final few minutes of the game and looked to have won the tie in stoppage time. The young midfielder burst forward and fired Abdoullah Ba's cut back into the roof of the net, only for officials to rule the goal out after the Frenchman strayed offside in the build-up.

It was a magical moment for Rigg who wheeled away, patting the Sunderland badge in front of the travelling Black Cats. Rigg is one of the most sought after talents in English football having rose to prominence last season.

The youngster won the U15 Floodlit Cup with Sunderland, before becoming the youngster player at Premier League 2 level when making his debut for the U21s. Newcastle United, Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton are all keen on signing the youngster, but it's the Black cats who're currently doing all they can to keep him at the club.

Tony Mowbray has already stressed Rigg is in the team because he's earned it, not because of some plan to keep him at the club.

Speaking to Match of The Day, Dublin said: "He was born when I retired. He was born in 2007. Who is born in 2007?

"He came on and I'm so sad, so sad that he didn't get his goal. It was incredible for him. The teacher asking him if he's done his homework?" Ashley Williams added: "Imagine him going into school on Monday morning with that winning goal?"
