Chris Noth Has Gone Into Damage Control Mode Over *That* Sarah Jessica Parker Comment

Chris Noth has moved to cool the latest flare‑up around his relationship with former Sex and the City co‑star Sarah Jessica Parker, telling fans his apparent Instagram swipe at her Golden Globes honour was meant as “slightly sarcastic” rather than a serious dig.

The drama kicked off earlier this week, when Noth shared a gym selfie on Instagram with the caption, “F&@k new years – LETS GO!!!!”.

Underneath, a follower referenced Parker being awarded the 2026 Carol Burnett Award for her contributions to television, writing, “You mean fcuk SJP and her award right? lol”, to which Noth simply replied, “Right”. The brief exchange rocketed around social media and entertainment sites, with many reading it as him cosigning a swipe at Parker’s career‑achievement moment.

On Wednesday, Noth returned to Instagram with a headshot and a longer caption that tried to put the brakes on the discourse. “My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot,” he wrote.

“It is not news.”

He went on: “It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”

In the comments of Noth’s clarification post, many followers praised his tone, with fans calling him a “class act” and urging him to “keep those sarcastic responses coming”, while others insisted he didn’t need to apologise and dubbed him a “sassy queen”.

Noth and Parker’s working relationship is baked into TV history: he played Mr Big opposite her Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City from 1998 to 2004, with their on‑again, off‑again romance eventually ending in marriage in the films.

When sequel series And Just Like That… launched in late 2021, their characters were still together, but Mr Big was killed off in the premiere, and a planned finale cameo was later cut after multiple women accused Noth of sexual assault.

Those allegations, first reported in 2021, related to incidents said to have taken place in 2004 and 2015, the latter during Noth’s marriage to Tara Wilson. In a statement at the time, Noth called the accusations “categorically false” and insisted “the encounters were consensual”, adding, “It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

In the wake of the allegations, Parker and co‑stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis issued a joint statement expressing support for the women who came forward, saying they were “deeply saddened” and commending the accusers for “sharing their painful experiences”.

Parker later told The Hollywood Reporter in 2022 that she had not spoken to Noth since the reporting emerged and so far it doesn’t seem that SJP will be responding to this most recent interaction either.
