Chris Moyles said he is ‘devastated’ he is not the favourite to replace David Walliams on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel following his exit from the I’m A Celebrity jungle.
The radio presenter, 48, became the sixth campmate to be voted off this year's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! during Thursday night's episode.
Chris was named in the bottom two of the public vote alongside comedian Seann Walsh by show hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
The star reflected on his exit during an appearance on Lorraine on Friday morning, as he called into the morning show from his hotel in Australia.
Appearing on the show after host Lorraine Kelly had told ITV viewers of reports that David Walliams' future as a Britain's Got Talent judge is 'very much up in the air'.
Lorraine noted that Strictly Come Dancing former professional Oti Mabuse was a name rumoured to replace the comedian.
When Chris then appeared on the show, he told Lorraine he was ‘devastated’ he was not in contention for the job before telling the camera he was ‘available’.
He said: I'm devastated, Lorraine. Not to be out of the jungle. I thought I was in the running to be on Britain's Got Talent replacing David Walliams and now you tell me it's somebody else. This is gutting news."
Laughing, Lorraine told the disc jockey: "It might be you. You never can tell," before she added he should stay by the phone because the call could come.
It comes after a spokesperson for the talent competition said: “The judging panel for Britain’s Got Talent 2023 will be announced in due course.
“It’s still very much up in the air at the moment on whether David is going to take part in next year’s show.”
"No decision, though, has been made as yet," they added to PA.
Chris Moyles went on to reflect on his stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! following his Thursday exit.
Chris took a seat in the ITV treehouse studio after his exit, saying: “I just said this morning in the Bush Telegraph, ‘I've got this now, I'd really like to stay,’” before adding: “I'm gutted Matt Hancock is more popular than me!”
Speaking about the West Suffolk MP, Chris said: “I really struggled with it to be fair, I slagged him a bit. I separated Matt Hancock from Matt.
“We had to live with him and he was winning the stars and getting us food. Matt Hancock, I've got massive issues with, but Matt I've got less issues with.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV1
