Curtis on the fight's key moment
“We knew he was going to do a lot of stuff. He’s one of the most athletic dudes you’re going to see, like running around doing stuff. He’s got that super highlight reel of doom that’s never going to go away. But we knew we weren’t going to be faster than him off the rip. We knew he hits like a truck. We just kind of expected: Be patient. Don’t worry about the flash. Just stay the course. Just drown him in deep water, make him work more than he wants, he’ll tire, and then we’ll get our shot. And that’s exactly what happened.”
Curtis on the trash talk with Buckley
“There really much trash talk on my part. Maybe (it was personal for him) – he still doesn’t seem like he likes me that much. I don’t really know what happened. But some guys are different … sometimes you’ve got to talk yourself into a fight.”
Curtis on what he wants next
“I’m still furious. ‘Who do you want next?’ Jack Hermansson. They’re like, ‘Why? He just lost.’ I don’t care. I have to get it back. At this point, I’ll fight Jack Hermasson every week. If he beats me every time, I’ll keep coming back next week until I win one, and then I’ll be satisfied.”
