Noodle bar Chopstix is to open its second store in Cardiff city centre. The Pan Asian chain has been a popular fixture on the capital's main shopping street, Queen Street, for years but is now set to expand by opening a new branch in St David's Shopping Centre.
The new restaurant is opening on Monday, July 4, and will replace baked potato chain SpudULike in the busy shopping centre. It will be Chopstix's 75th store in the UK and its fourth in Wales, with locations in Bridgend and Swansea, the latter of which opened in November last year.
The chain specialises in "delivering fresh, nutritious and tasty Pan Asian meals made from the best ingredients", with 'Wok Masters' serving up a range of fresh dishes in front of customers. When ordering, customers are asked to choose a size of noodle box, either small, medium or large, before picking a base from options including vegetable noodles and egg fried rice. You can then pick from a range of toppings and decide to pick up any drink or extras, which include spring rolls and salt and pepper potatoes.
Popular toppings on offer at the restaurant include Chicken Katsu Curry, Caramel Drizzle Chicken and the best-selling Salt 'N' Pepper Chicken. There are also limited edition options, including K-POP BBQ Chicken, while those looking for a lighter bite are also catered for, with 'skinny' cauliflower rice available to team with any topping.
The chain is also known for its crispy vegetable spring rolls and to celebrate the new store opening, Chopstix is giving away 1,000 portions of them to customers throughout the week. They will also be giving away 100 free medium boxes with two toppings to the first people in line at the new St David's store.
Dishes are also available to order from Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat. Meanwhile, the new store is just the latest in the company's expansion plans with more launches to be announced in the upcoming months.
“We’re excited to welcome Chopstix’ fresh and tasty noodles to St David’s, and are sure guests will enjoy their delicious Asian-inspired flavours," said Helen Morgan, centre director at St David’s Dewi Sant. "Chopstix is a great addition to our existing restaurant mix, ensuring there’s something for everyone at St David’s.”
Rob Burns, marketing director for Chopstix, added: “We’re so pleased to be opening the second Chopstix store in Cardiff; after our successful Swansea launch last winter. We have such a loyal set of customers in Wales, so we’re thrilled to be opening our 4th Welsh store. We can’t wait to open our doors and for customers to get another taste of Chopstix at the Cardiff St David’s Shopping Centre."
