Chopard shining bright

Last year it was 75 dazzling pieces. Now Chopard's 2023 Red Carpet collection comprises 76 creations to correspond to the latest edition of the Festival de Cannes.

Caroline Scheufele began with 60 and has been adding a piece each year since 2007 when the international film festival celebrated its 60th anniversary.

Chopard's co-president and artistic director does not run out of themes, as this new high-jewellery collection pays tribute to the seven arts: architecture, sculpture, painting, music, literature, dance and cinema.

Architecture, for instance, is interpreted through a titanium necklace adorned with tanzanites and diamonds, distinguished by its clean-cut symmetry and well thought out proportions.

A ring centred by a 127-carat yellow sapphire is supported by antique-style sculptures carved in gold on a shank set with brilliant-cut diamonds.

A butterfly ring recalls the play on colours and forms mastered by painters.

Music is celebrated by a briolette-cut diamond choker with rows of gems tracing the lines of a musical score.

Set with diamonds, rubellites and multicoloured sapphires, a butterfly ring celebrates painting.

Another stunning necklace features diamond and sapphire feathers skilfully crafted to form gossamer-light volutes, as an ode to literature.

Dance is represented by a necklace and matching earrings featuring diamond corollas gracefully evoking the dainty flutter of ballerinas' tutus.

Scheufele's moon pendant subtly hints at darkness, without which it is impossible to fully immerse oneself in the emotions of a feature film.

The collection celebrates the seven arts through the design, gemstones and craftsmanship, with each piece highlighting the talent and expertise of Chopard's artisans.

The art theme was carried to Chopard's traditional glamorous grande soirée held at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes.

The Art Evening also saw the beginning of a new chapter in the company's history with the launch of Caroline's Couture.

A fashion show presented the Red Carpet Collection along with 50 silhouettes, designed to weave an unprecedented conversation between jewellery and clothing.
