Chip shop owner who sparked fury by proclaiming 'Lizard Liz is dead' is pelted with eggs

A fish and chip shop owner who celebrated the death of the Queen by spraying champagne and dancing outside her chippie was pelted with eggs by furious Brits.

Jacki Pickett, owner of Jaki Fish and Chip Shop, earned the wrath of the crowd after she posted a video of herself holding a sign saying “Lizard Liz Dead” and " London Bridge has Fallen.

The anti-monarchist, from the village of Muir of Ord in the Scottish Highlands, may have regretted the move after a large crowd of unhappy people arrived outside to protest.

Such was the strength of feeling police were called to disperse the crowd who were berating the owner inside.

The owner enraged people in her home village by posting the video online (Twitter)

Officers were forced to close the business amid concerns for the owner’s safety and drove her home as the crowd booed loudly.

However, the abuse aimed at the owner continued online, with people vowing to run her out of the town in the coming weeks, reports The Press and Journal.

"However, thank you for paying Queen Lizzie's Taxes from your horrific chippy!

“I guarantee you this place will be boycotted and you will be claiming the King's Money on benefits, will you accept it or decline it?

“You are a disgrace of a human and all those who support this business should be ashamed of celebrating the death of a great-grandmother, grandmother, a mother and the leader of our great nation!”

Another added: “What an absolute disgrace. Forget about the monarchy. A family have lost a loved one and this is your behaviour. Mindless, heartless idiot Jaki Fish & Chip Shop.”

Another said: “So disrespectful no matter what her feelings towards the royal family are. She’s still someone’s mum, granny etc.”

Miss Pickett appears to have now deleted the video from her Facebook page amid the ill feeling from the majority of people in the village.

It was posted shortly after Buckingham Palace confirmed the death of the monarch yesterday at the age of 96.

A police spokesman said: “Seven officers were called to an incident to disperse a crowd outside Jaki Fish Shop in Muir of Ord.”

They added there was no evidence a crime had been committed.
